FRESHLY SQUEEZED

Week 1 of my new job has completed, and I'm pleased to say it went really well. It was quite an adjustement, moving from a relatively established and somewhat large organisation to one with c.50 people in total. There's an awful lot for me to learn and build, but I am excited for the challenge ahead. I'm incredibly thankful to God for placing me there and taking me out of what was one of the lowest points of my life.

For every milestone in my life, or happy occasion, I always buy a bottle of champagne/sparkling wine. Moving to my new place, New Year's Eve, etc., and this occasion definitely warranted a trip to Wine Rack. I enjoyed a solitary toast, a thoughtful prayer of thanks, and a quiet evening by myself to take stock of everything, let last week sink in, and focus on the future and the opportunity I've been given for a brand new start.

The one drawback to my new employ is the close proximity to the high-end shops that London has to offer. HMV, a staple of my childhood and teenage years, has re-eopened its flagship store in Oxford Street. I 'popped in for a look around' and spent a fortune! So, it's going to have to be packed lunches from now until the end of the year, and maybe during my lunch breaks next week I'll wander round the parks rather than the expensive streets!

What's also great is a number of my friends have checked in to see how it has all been going, and I've got a few meet ups with them pencilled in which I'm really looking forward to. After what felt like weeks and weeks of feeling sad and alone, I am so blessed to now be given a new lease of life and a new challenge to focus on.

Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind, for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.
-- Psalm 107: 8-9.
