GOOSE ENERGY January 12, 17:48 PM This past week was a real blessing. A wonderful family, who I count as dear friends of mine spontaneously visited London from South Carolina for a week, and got in touch with me a few days prior to their arrival to check if I was around to see them. Even though I was working all week, of course I made myself available to see them as much as I could during their stay. I got to spend Monday, Thursday, and Friday evening with them, and then some of the day on Saturday. The great thing about true friends, is that when you get back in touch after so long, it's as if you were never away from each other. I last saw two of them in 2018, and the others I'm ashamed to say was 15 years ago! Can you believe it. Those in the clan that used to arch their necks up to look at me, now have to crane their necks down! Seeing the little boys grow up into fine men was a real delight, especially as I was now able to have a drink with them, seeing as they had now all come of age. We went for dinner, played games in the evening (where a new term, 'goose energy', was entered into our collective lexicon), caught up, reminisced, laughed, and had more fun than I have had in a long, long time. It actually felt good for my soul to be with them. They are firm in their faith too, so connecting and talking about the Lord and all what he is doing in our lives was the greatest part of it all. I'm missing them already, but one thing we promised each other was that it wouldn't be another 15 years before we see each other again. Here's to good friends. |
